Blockbuster Warns of mid-September pre-planned bankruptcy
(HMG) – It’s a do-eat-dog world out there. Years ago its’ giant chain of stores forced many local video stores out of business, but now Blockbuster Inc., is being forced out of the game by upstarts Netflix and Redbox. According to a new Los Angeles Times report, executives from Blockbuster and its senior debt holders last week held meetings with the six major movie studios to basically warn them they are broke and are set to enter a “pre-planned” bankruptcy in mid-September. The mid-September filing coincides with Blockbuster’s scheduled $42 million debt payment, and comes after their stock was delisted from the NYSE last month. The Dallas-based company’s total market value now is $24 million. They reportedly plan to to use about 5 months time to restructure its $1 billion debt and get out of the leases on at least 500 of the worst performing of its 3,424 stores. and hopes everyone will start using Blockbuster’s new kiosks, which will charge $1 per night.
Julio Iglesias weds after 20-years of dating and five kids
[HMG] – In a move that should give Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie some renewed motivation, Spanish singing star Julio Iglesias has finally married his girlfriend – after twenty years and five children together.
Julio, 66, and leggy Dutch model, Miranda Rijnsburger swapped vows at the ‘Virgen del Carmen’ church in the upscale resort of Marbella, a vibrant town with a glorious history that nestles on the south coast of Spain.
Reverend Roberto Rojo Aguado, one of three priests who conducted the ceremony, told Us the pair were married on Tuesday in a quiet, low-key ceremony attended by just two witnesses and the couple’s five children.
The new bride and groom have three sons and two daughters: Miguel, 13, Rodrigo, 11, and 3-year old Guillermo, plus twin girls Victoria and Cristina, aged 9.
This is the second marriage for the velvet-voiced Latin legend; In 1971 he married Filipino journalist Isabel Preysler, with whom he has three other children, Chabeli, Enrique and Julio Jr.
But the marriage to 59-year old Isabel was annulled in 1979. His new bride is just 45…
